I need to clone my existing server and recopy it into another server. I tried using clonezilla as was recomended by a few friends. I'm able to copy my original machine as a image but when I tried to restore the image into my new machine, it's failing with error message "Failed to create a partition table on this disk: /dev/sda'. Can anyone help why I'm getting this error?
I've got the rootcause for this. The reason behind this is because my clonezilla live and the backup image is in the same USB hardrive. In order to not have this problem, make sure the clonezilla live and your saved image are in different USB drive. Also, please enable 'Skip checking destination disk size before creating partition table' (-icds) expert mode. This will reduce the problem regarding partitions. Hope this helps if you guys encounter similar issue in the future.
I ran into the same problem. The next time through, I made sure that I was root "sudo su" on the destination box. After entering the ocs commands again, viola. It worked.
