Total n00b to linux

I just installed Red Hat 9 and I basically know nothing.

RH9 came installed with Gaim v0.59.8 and it doesn't have the MSN or Yahoo protocols. I downloaded the newest version from their website as gaim-0.75-0rh9.i386.rpm.

I double-click it and it goes through what appears to be installing it and then closes itself. But it hasn't installed. Even when I log off and on again it still hasn't worked.

Any help would be great.
Thanks

Trigger.

open a terminal and type

Code:
rpm -ivh gaim-0.75-0rh9.i386.rpm
gaim
i had two failed dependencies so i am just going to stick with the version that came with red hat 9.
