Problems with sound in flash, Slackware 9.1, Mozilla and Netscape
I have searched this site and google, but i dont get my sound working in Netscape or Mozilla.. Well, it works sometimes but not so often. Im running slackware 9.1.
Hey pebb!
Well, i'm not familiar with slackware...
Anyway, you should post some more information 'bout your problem. Which DE are you using (xfce, kde, gnome, icewm)? Sound Daemon(esd, artsd)? What about the sound drivers(alsa, oss)?
I did not get any sound in flash-apps until i switched from 2.4x kern with oss to 2.6x with alsa support.
im running esd, cous i wrote esd in the console (as root) and it said "ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1055snd_pcm_hw_open) open /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p failed: Device or resource busy" so i suppose that it is in use.... how do i restart the daemon?
this is not a permissions problem.
if problem occurs in KDE
go to K/ Settings /Control Center/Sound& MultiMedia/Sound SYstem
uncheck Start aRTS soundserver
log off/log back in
open up a terminal window and type esd
open up mozilla and try the web site giving you the flash sound problem
Everything should work
configure your X startup script and make sure esd loads
automatically
if problem occurs in another X windows just make sure esd is running
