KDE system sounds problem (arts)

Hi all,

Running Mandrake 10.1, I had system sounds using the snd-intel8x0 drivers. Then I installed the NFORCE (NVIDIA) drivers for my onboard sound. They caused a crash dialogue to appear when I started KDE, and a dialogue appeared asking if I wanted to suspend aRTs. I did so, and had no sound at all.

Frustrated, I restored my modprobe.conf to snd-intel8x0 drivers, but now I have no system sounds. I think aRTs is still suspended, but how do I re-enable it.

BTW, under system->configuration->KDE->Sound->Sound System, I do have the sound system enabled. I can test sound successfully here, but no luck with the actual system sounds.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.
