The file contains the codecs. Once you have untarred/unbziped them you need to copy the contents (not the folder) to the relevant directory.

As far as I remember, RH has a "open file manager as super user" option. I would use that, navigate to wherever the files are and then
ctrl-a #to select all
ctrl-c #to copy
navigate to /usr/lib and right click-->new folder to create a folder and call it "codecs"
open it and then
ctrl-v #to paste all the files

Repeat as necessary for any other codecs files.

I believe you want to create a directory called win32 in /usr/lib.
enter the directory you just untarred and move all the codecs to /usr/lib/win32.

For RealPlayer you can get the codecs from the Mplayer website, untar the rp9 codec directory to where ever you want and your media player should have an option in it's config where you can tell it where those codecs are.

Oh, you can also place the Qt6 and Qtextras in /usr/lib/win32.

see ya

yup /usr/lib/win32 is where you wanna put the codecs. this was extremely helpful before compiling mplayer as well.
