How to Chnage Python's module search path (sys.path)?

I'm been trying to install pyxmms (http://people.via.ecp.fr/~flo/index.en.xhtml) which is a something to control the xmms player and needed for a gdesklets sensor called corner-xmms, anyways when I am able to install pyxmms but at the end it tells me that in the directory that it got install, python does not have that directory in its search path which causes corner-xmms to not install, can anyone tell me where this path file is located so I can modify it, I would really appreciate it, i've been trying to do this for more than a week with no success, thank you.
