Different display managers on different screens

I have my X (XFree86) set up so that one screen (in true X terminology) is on my monitor, and one screen is on my TV, and both are part of the same display. I'm not using Xinerama. I'm running Gnome, and using GDM as my display manager. My problem is that when the GDM login screen comes up, the TV is blank, and when I log in, the Gnome desktop takes over the TV screen with a copy of itself (except that it doesn't display desktop icons and it uses the default panels, instead of the ones I customized). Is there any way to start GDM up independantly on both screens so I can start up my TV with fluxbox and my monitor with Gnome, while maintaining the ability to move the cursor between screens? Or to have GDM start Gnome on my monitor, and Fluxbox on my TV when I log in?

I've been searching everywhere, and all I can find is that this is possible, but nobody seems to say how to do it.

Can anyone at least tell me how to make Gnome only handle one screen, and leave the other one as raw X? If I can get just that piece I can do the rest myself.
