chinput installation error: Basic: Cannot open font -misc-SimSun-medium-r-normal--16-

Dear friends,

I tried to install the chinput to allow chinese input. I followed the guidelines from http://www.biostat.umn.edu/~nali/com...niChinput.html

Unfortunately, when i tried to start chinput by typing chinput at the terminal, the following error came out:

# chinput
Chinput Version 3.0.2 -- XIM Server
Distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL)
Basic: Cannot open font -misc-SimSun-medium-r-normal--16-*-*-*-*-*-gb2312.1980-0

what is the problem? no such font?

thanks for helping!
