Hey, I used to have a tnt2 in my box, then recently i put in an ati radeon. ive gotten x configured to use DRI correctly, Quake3 runs like a champ. However on some applications i do have a problem. Apparently there is some configure file or something in my box that mentions nvidia or something, because when i try to run them i get:
NV: could not open control device /dev/nvidiactl, errno=2
Error reading configuration file.
/dev/nvidiactl is no longer there, bc i no longer have an nvidia card. but, thats the error msg i get, and then X totally dies. any help appreciated.
did you download the drivers from nvidia? my best guess would have something to do with the nvidia tnt2 drivers that you might have had before you replaced the card. if you downloaded the drivers from nvidia, then either the kernel module or the glx driver might somehow be accessed by X. "nv" is the driver for nvidia that came with X, and not the driver from nvidia, which was named just "nvidia".
yea, i know thats what im saying, its some remnant from the old card in there. but it isnt a kernel module i checked. and i also dont see any old nvidia drivers in there. i think its a reference left to it in an old config file or something but i dont know where
