after installation of MySQL could not log into mysql using temporary password in /var/log/mysqld.log

Hi guys,

Merry Christmas.

After installing fedora 27, I installed MySQL and got a 'temporary password'
in /var/log/mysqld.log

[Note] A temporary password is generated for root@localhost: DBEtrkmLr6&O

sudo mysql -u root -p
enter password: DBEtrkmLr6&0

1045(2800) access denied for 'root@localhost' (using password: yes)

I have read through the post but could not find anything helpful to
the problem.

I downloaded and installed MySQL again twice, but having the same problem.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks and regards.

Please note that the last character in the generated password is an "O" (capital o), while you give a 0 (zero) when you enter the password.

Wink

Thanks Bathory!

Indeed, the last character is a Capital character 'O'.
I got the mysql prompt now. Thanks.

Best regards.
