checking security at www.grc.com

What do you think of that? Can I trust the results of tests using some firewall, guarddog for example?

I think it does a reasonably fair job. Though I'd recommend using multiple online scans just to make sure the results aren't artifactual or missing something. Ideally you'd want to do a more hands-on rigorous scanning and penentration testing, as scanners like nmap have much more advanced scanning options that can identify weaknesses in certain firewall configurations that standard TCP-Connect scan would miss.

I would also suggest using a vuln scanner like nessus. It can give you a much more detailed report then a port scanner.
