xlock......

Well, I haven't seen anything that answers these questions, so I'll go ahead and ask them.
I am trying to get a handle on xlock, and was wondering if anybody can tell me why when xlock is active, no new network connections are permitted?
anddddd, why is it not a security hazard to use the killall command to end the xlock program?

I think you are talking about X network connections. Presumably if you are locking X, you don't want any new X sessions. You can change this behaviour with appropriate combinations of the remote and allowaccess flags.

It is only a security hazard if you expect to use xlock to prevent all access to the machine... xlock doesn't add extra protection over the normal password authentication, it is just a useful way of locking the X session without having to log out.
