Angry Smart TV Screen

Using TV for monitor with a Lenovo ThinkCentre computer.

Display changed from full screen to about 80% (blank black space on one side). Date, time and sound icons are gone from right side of bar at the bottom of the screen too!

What happened and how/where do I fix it from Linux mint menu?

It might help to know the make/model of the television.

Do you have a monitor or another television, even an older one, that you could hook up for testing purposes to see whether the problem is with the television or with the computer? That would be a good first step.

I had a lot of trouble with that. Can't remember what I did but it involved removing hdmi and rebooting or full power off on one or both tv and computer. Even might had to remove ac power plugs. It may be in some setting but I think it is more the way the computer and tv use the signal. One uses computer and one uses TV and your trick is to get them both on same format.

I believe the first step is to go to your graphic card settings on system menu and you can set the resolution on X-display configuration.
