Problem installing KDE3.2

Hello.

I am trying to install KDE3.2 but I'm having problems. When I try to condigure the script I get this message.

Code:
checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.2) (library qt-mt) not found. Please check your installation!
For more details about this problem, look at the end of config.log.
Make sure that you have compiled Qt with thread support!
I open a shell and do echo $QTDIR and it comes back

Code:
/usr/lib/qt3/
I am on Mandrake 9.2 and I'm using KDE3.1 at the moment.

Thanks for any help.

"checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.2) (library qt-mt) not found. Please check your installation!"

The best way to check what version of Qt you have installed is:
rpm -qi qt

I had that error. Having never installed KDE before, I didn't know where to start. I
first tried KDE 3.2 but after much head banging I resorted to KDE 3.1.4.

ftp://kde.us.themoes.org/pub/kde/sta.../RedHat/9/i386
Good reference, but you'll have to snoop around to see which one will help you.
Doesn't seems that any KDE 3.2 is under /stable

Where are you getting your source? Do they not provide a compatible QT as well?
I think that was the ultimate 'trick' to get all of the versions KDE, QT and aRts
from the same source

At one point I also built a QT by hand. The build worked but I didn't end up using it.
My notes FYI:

Install the latest QT>

WARNING: /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so is threaded!
The Qt OpenGL module requires Qt to be configured with -thread.

Read the readme!

Set some environment variables in the file .profile (or .login,
depending on your shell) in your home directory. Create the
file if it is not there already.

QTDIR - the directory in which you're building Qt
PATH - to locate the moc program and other Qt tools
MANPATH - to access the Qt man pages
LD_LIBRARY_PATH - for the shared Qt library

# ./configure -thread

Finding project files. Please wait...
241 projects found.

Creating makefiles. Please wait...
for /usr/local/qt-x11-free-3.3.0b1/src/moc/moc.pro
for /usr/local/qt-x11-free-3.3.0b1/src/qt.pro
...<snip>...

Hours later....

The Qt library is now built in ./lib
The Qt examples are built in the directories in ./examples
The Qt tutorials are built in the directories in ./tutorial

Enjoy! - the Trolltech team

gmake[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/MyPrograms/qt-x11-free-3.3.0b1'

Have Fun,
alar
