need to configure autostart of oracle database and oracle soa suite on linux bootup


Hi,

I need to configure autostart of oracle database 11g & oracle soa suite 11g after successful OS startup.
Linux: Redhat version 5

I have commands needed for startup, but not sure on where to keep the file. Can you please help me ?

Hi,

You can put the commands you want in /etc/rc.local. Note that it's always better to use the full path for a command you want to run from rc.local

I'd expect Oracle on RHEL to supply proper startup/shutdown scripts in the /etc/init.d area. They even sell their own version of RHEL (OEL iirc) Have you checked in the init dirs and the docco or google?
Starting from rc.local is ok-ish, but it won't handle system shutdown....
Alternately, phone the RH support line.
