here is a link to a suitable package.

https://packages.debian.org/bookworm...lwifi/download

look for your local area below... links to a .deb package

may be unpacked with ark, one of the directories will have the files you need.

then you can have a look what to put on your spare usb for the install.

I have the ucodes sitting in plain sight...

That firmware is part of the standard firmware distributed by the Kernel team, and can be found here:

Here is the link to non-free firmware from Kali repository.

Depending on how you are installing Kali, either writing the ISO to a USB with DD, or creating a bootable USB with the ISO contents. If you went the DD method you cannot write to the USB to add the firmware package to the install media. However, I use Rufus in Windows which creates a bootable USB with the Kali.iso contents, using this method you can open the USB/firmware folder and paste the firmware.deb file in there and it will be available during installation.

My newest laptop uses iwiwifi also, I use Debian testing which comes with all the non-free firmware, it finds what it needs to work, it also comes up saying there is a missing firmware file, do you want to add it?, I select ignore or whatever and then it sets up the wifi properly. The missing file is not detrimental.

I have same issues on the older laptop with Qualcomm Atheros wifi. The missing file or files may be files that once existed, however firmware packages tend to get upgraded over time and the manufacturer removed it down the line somewhere. The Debian installer is not aware of the changes.

Kali Linux is best thought of as a tool for pen testing, not an OS. Use a wired network card.

If you installed Kali thinking it was an OS, delete it and/or install over it. It's just for doing one specific job.

Also, check the Kali sticky on the newbie forum.
