Try linuxpackages.net

I recommend using the slackware packages which are available from linuxpackages.net . You can search for mplayer and if you install both packages which come up you should be fine (works for me).

To simplify things, here is the direct link to the mplayer packages

why this is open ?

i download what you say this file

in the start i go to shell and write
gunzip mplayer-1.0pre5-i486-3jim.tgz
and after that i change the file to this
mplayer-1.0pre5-i486-3jim.tar
so i writh is shell again this command
tar xfv mplayer-1.0pre5-i486-3jim.tar
and the file was extract and i see 3 directory i serch thair some file for install him but none ....
so i download the file from the begining is show like that
mplayer-1.0pre5-i486-3jim.tgz
and i use slackware 10 with kde
so i open kde aplliaction > system > Pacakge Manger (KPackge)
and with that i open the file
and is tell me this look:

Code:
<Downloads/mplayer-1.0pre5-i486-3jim.tgz ;echo RESULT=$?
Cannot install //home/roy/My: package does not end in .tgz
Cannot install Downloads/mplayer-1.0pre5-i486-3jim.tgz: package does not end in .tgz
RESULT=3
what i need to do how to isntall it ?

thnks for yours time ...
