Install hangs at "formatting partition hda6"

I am trying to install Mandrake Linux 10.0 as a stand alone OS. The install is going on an HP 8652C PIII. It boots from the CD and does fine all the way up to the partition portion of the install. It formats hda1 quickly but hangs up on the next one. "dha6". The install is going on a 40 gig hard drive that had 98SE loaded on it at one time. Why is it hanging on this one partition??

Don't know. Maybe you should try formatting the partition via dos
