Finding good distro for laptop

I'm looking for a distro that includes a kernel with ACPI already configured into the kernel. Im downloading the ISO's for Mandrake right now so hopefully they are already configured.

Can anyone give any good adivce on a distro where I dont have to reconfigure the kernel or the distro with the latest kernal already configured?
