Newbie help with slow connection speed

Untill now I used Windows, I installed Ubuntu 2 weeks ago and my connection speed is a lot slower then in Windows. I also lose my connection a lot.
I'm a real newbie to linux so I have no idea where to start looking.
Could someone give me some tips?

How do you connect to the web? And post /etc/network/interfaces

I connect to the internet via an Intel Wireless Gateway connected to a broadband ISP (telenet.be). I have a wireless connection to that gateway.

I tried connecting using:
A wireless card (wlan0)
An ethernet card, connected to a Wireless ethernet bridge (Linksys WET11) (eth0).

Currently I'm connecting using both, switching from one connection to another seems to work sometimes.
