mandrake 9.2 cannot get on internet using pppoe internent connection and dlink router

Hi all I am a newbie and I said Newbie lol. running mandrake 9.2. I have a two computer newtork and I cannot get on the internet. I use a pppoe adsl connection connected through a d link router..... then off to the two computers. this connection works perfectly fine in win xp on both of the computers but wil not connect in mandrake.

when the router is installed with windows it picks it up automatically so i am assuming it is set to dynamically pick it up. Should mandrake not pick it up on its own too?

help please someone...

noob in trouble
