Cannot connect my linux laptop to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 Enterprise university network

Hi everyone,

I got this weird problem. I recently installed Pop!_OS on my laptop and the only problem I have is that I cannot connect to the university Wi-Fi network which uses a WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 Enterprise security.

What happens is that I try to connect using my UniversityID and PWD, while it tries to connect, a window pops up asking my credentials and it keeps looping again and again.

I called IT but apparently the do not support Linux users.

I took a look at some threads on reddit and it seems that there is a way around it, before doing any major changes though I wanted to check here.

Please let me know if you have a possible solution.

Your help is very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Fra

Before installing PopOS, did you have another OS on this machine and were you able to successfully log on to your university wifi? If so, what OS was it? Are you able to log on to other networks other than your university?

When you do this, does this mean the request for your 'credentials' is repeated?

Easy out for the IT people. I don't see the relevance of the OS to the network topology. Good luck.

If you actually share those threads and/or workaround then you save the potential time wasted from people here giving you the exact same advice.

Also, putting "linux WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2" into a search engine appears to reveal plenty of non-major easy-to-try potential solutions - you should do that and share which ones you've tried and what the outcome was.
