Unhappy Cannot add persistent routes

Hello All,

I have added route that I want to be persistent to the route-eth1 file.

Somehow they are not being picked up. I have restarted the network service and rebooted the server, but somehow they do not come up in the route display.

I can add the route via command line, but they are not persistent. They go away once the server is rebooted or the network service is restarted.

Any suggestion in order to make the route persistent?

Thank you.

More information is needed:

What distro and version?

What "route add" command syntax works at command line?

What are the contents of the route-eth1 file?

In which directory did you create the route-eth1 file?

What does "netstat -rn" show after you do the command line?

You don't say what distribution you're using, or what version.

You can try adding it to either /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/route-<interface name> or /etc/sysconfig/static-routes.

An example /etc/sysconfig/static-routes:

any net 10.10.10.0 netmask 255.0.0.0 gw 192.168.1.1

Check here http://www.yolinux.com/TUTORIALS/Lin...etworking.html for more info. Don't know your distribution, so hard to tell you exactly what to do.
