Does anyone know where in the UK I can buy laptops without windows or any other operating system installed? I would be a lot cheaper with windows and I've looked, but everywhere sells it with windows installed, which I obviously don't want.
I really don't need all these specy, pricy, windowy laptops, I just want one which will browse the internet, so anywhere where I can by a barebones laptop would be much appreciated.

When you buy a laptop, it would like to install itself. During installing windows, it's gonna ask you wether to accept the EULa or not.
In the EUALa stands something like, if you don't agree, contact your supplier.
Well, that's what you have to do. Somewhere on the internet is there a big description from, can't find it quick..
I don't want to jump through hoops for this, I'm just looking for a site or something that sells cheap, very low spec laptops without a pre-installed OS, as I imagine they must be cheaper. As far as i'm concerned, there's no benefit from buying a laptop with windows and sending windows back. If it can run windows, I might as well use it.
your best bet is probably getting a bare bones laptop, adding a harddrive and some ram ypurself and that way saving yourself the OS money.
It says a lot about the world we live in that windows is so deep rooted that to find a computer without it pre-installed you have to build it yourself or spend ages trawling the web
I had a similar problem myself, just wanted a notebook to play around with linux on.
I ended up looking through refurbished laptops sites and searching for 'no OS'
heres
a couple of links to the type of stuff you can expect, not bad for a budget.
I can't believe how hard windows free comps are to find!
There's a choice of a number of Lenovo laptops with the Linux distro of your choice preinstalled available from The Linux Emporium which is UK based. And not a whiff of Windows in any of them.
Edit: Sorry, not the distro of your choice - either Ubuntu or SuSE, but I believe they might sell you a bare one with no OS.
