Volume Control on eMachines laptop

Hi Group!

This is the machine:

E528-2821

Intel Celeron 900
15.6" 16:9 HD LCD
Intel GMA 4500M
2GB DDR3 Memory

250GB (Hitachi) HDD
DVD-Super Multi DL drive
802.11b/g/n Bluetooth excluded
4-cell Li-ion battery

In a previous post, I described this, my ex-wife's laptop. And, sifting through all the helpful advice, settled on the 32-bit flavor of Antix. [Looks like a cute OS - I think I'll test-drive it on a REAL machine.]

She wanted it to read ebooks, and listen to music throughout the house via an FM transmitter dongle. She's no longer interested in trying to watch videos.

Problem is: No volume control. I've looked all over the thing, and can't find anything resembling a volume control. And the volume as-is is so muted as to be useless.

Is it possible that the way this thing was sold (Win7 Home, I think) that the volume control was handled completely by the OS?

Has anybody actually fondled one of these toys, and found a volume control?

Thanks in advance,

- Ralph
