Unhappy UEFI laptop with Win8, installed Fedora 19 in classic mode, now cannot start Windows

Hi,
I am having a problem with my new Inspiron 15R Touch Screen 7537. It came with Windows 8 and for some reason I decided it's not really my cup of tea so I had to install a linux distro in dual boot on it. I have been using Ubuntu and Mint for some time but this time I decided to install Fedora (because it's supposedly cutting edge).
The UEFI is extremely limited on this laptop with just a few options. And it couldn't see my USB with Fedora ISO on it unless I set it to 'legacy'. So I did and it booted and I chose install Fedora. When installing it identified by itself the partition to which I wanted to install it and installed itself. I did not had to tell it how to sub-partition that partition, just let it do it automatically. After install I discovered that I can boot into Fedora only if 'legacy boot' is active, windows will not show at all. And if I activate UEFI then Windows is showing but cannot start, a message "No Boot Device Found" displays on a black screen and Fedora is not shown at all.

Another problem with Fedora is that it doesn't recognise my wireless card because it's too new (as I found from forums) and so I cannot connect to internet at all. Luckily I still have my old trusty Toshiba laptop (running Mint 11) to access internet and search for answers.

Sorry for this novel but I am not a technical person although I like playing with new software.
Can someone give me some pointers as to where to start solving this mess?

Sounds like you possibly wiped your windows installation or at least the boot portion. This is the point where the win8 restore disc comes into play. . . You did create a restore disk didn't you?

Have you tried using a manager like rEFInd? It can detect EFI kernels by itself and sometimes doesn't even need to be set up, provided your partitioning and kernel-naming(in linux) is correct. I think they must start with vmlinuz- or kernel- and/or end in .efi or something like that. It makes dual booting really easy.

Now to the actual answer to your problem. When you booted the Fedora install disc into "legacy" mode, it's booting from the MBR portion on the disc(on CD). This means that you've installed Fedora to a drive that is formatted in the MBR partitioning scheme and this scheme is not compatible with EFI. You must repartition your drives as GPT, which is what Windows did on your drive during its own install. If you cannot find an x64 installation disc for your selected distro that has an EFI-bootable image on it(which is compatible with your motherboard), you will need to do something a little extra. Hit me back with a reply and let me know a little more about what is going on, I can give you some help with setting up an EFI system as I just did it on my win8/slackware 13.37 system here at home using an arch install disc.

What is really important to find out here is whether or not you installed fedora over your Windows drive. Are you on separate physical disks?

I am sorry I did not get back earlier. The problem was a corrupted UEFI. When istalling Fedora (which does not support UEFI as it says and is in general like two generations behind ubuntu) it corrupted existing UEFI. I installed Ubuntu over the partition with Fedora and it magically repaired UEFI and now both win8 and ubuntu boot up nicely. I did not use ubuntu since 2010 and now seeing the progress they made in 3 years I have to admit it's impressive. I don't quite see a bright future for windows to be honest. Every problem that plagued linux 6 years ago now plagues windows 8(.1). Bad drivers, especially bad wifi drivers are preventing from having a nice experience with win8. At some point I was thinking to format the whole harddrive and install ubuntu only. Then I thought: well, windows is already there, let it be there for now, I usually boot into ubuntu anyway.
I am not a windows hater, I actually think it's an ok OS and there are things I like about it, just not ok enough to justify such popularity. Sad to say but probably XP was their highest point, from then on I don't see much progress except for some tweaks in the looks. And of course the big downfall with win8. Sorry for off-topic just had to get it out.
