Thinkpad 600E Microphone Prob

I just downloaded Skype and I'm using SuSE 9.1 on my Thinkpad 600E I havent ever tried to use my microphone, and now I know it doesnt seem to work. Is there any way to configure the mic under Linux? I've been looking in the Control Center and havent been able to figure it out. So any help will be appreciated.

Wavz

P.S. I have tried to external mic jack on the side of the thinkpad as well, and no luck.
