Ndiswrapper 1.0 installation error.

hi all,

can someone help me configuring my wireless card....I have a 600m notebook with an intel wireless card 2915 abg...I had downloaded ndiswrapper and the inf file for my wireless card...uninstalled the default ndiswrapper that comes with Mandrake 10.0, installed latest kernel of the CD, but when trying to run make install I get the following error towards the end:

/usr/local/src/ndiswrapper-1.0/driver/usb.c: In function `usb_select_configurati
on':

/usr/local/src/ndiswrapper-1.0/driver/usb.c : 529: error: invalid type argument of
`->'

/usr/local/src/ndiswrapper-1.0/driver/usb.c : 530: error: invalid type argument of
`->'

Make[3]: ***[/usr/local/src/ndiswrapper-1.0/driver/usb.0] error 1
Make[2]: ***[/usr/local/src/ndiswrapper-1.0/driver]error 2
Make[2]: Leaving Directory `/usr/src/linux -2.6.3-7mdk
Make[1]: [default] error 2
Make[1]: Leaving Directory `/usr/local/src/ndiswrapper-1.0/driver
Make: ***[Install] error 2

your help will be greatly appreciated!

*******UPDATE*********

I was able to install Ndiswrapper but with the following message:

*** WARNING: Kernel is compiled with 4K stack size option (CONFIG_4KSTACKS); many Windows drivers will not work with this option enabled. Disable CONFIG_4KSTACKS option, recompile and install kernel

when trying to run # ndiswrapper -l.....I get 29n51 Invalid Drivers!....does the warning have to do anything with this? am I missing something else? should I install MDK 10.1 instead?

thanX

Is that all the error messages?

I suspect you have left out the really informative lines. Can you also give a few more lines before that part?

Is it looking for kernel sources? What does the error message say? You should try the default ndiswrapper first though, if it works then leave it.

sorry....I get 3 lines with the following:

/usr/local/src/ndiswrapper-1.0/driver/usb.c: In function `usb_select_configurati
on':
/usr/local/src/ndiswrapper-1.0/driver/usb.c : 529: error: invalid type argument of
`->'
/usr/local/src/ndiswrapper-1.0/driver/usb.c : 530: error: invalid type argument of
`->'
everything seems to go well up to this point then followed by the previous errors.

thanks again.

are you compiling as a root or user? You should compile it as root.

I'm getting the same errors as in the first post in this thread. What did you do to get ndiswrapper installed? I'm running LBA-Linux, but have the exact same error messages. Another lost Miami Linux user!

You can recompile your kernel and not use a 4k stack size. That will get rid of that error. Its under Kernel Hacking menu, or you can just open up /usr/src/linux/.config and comment out CONFIG_4KSTACKS then compile and install the kernel. I had to do this to be able to use my wireless card. I have not actually read anything on what that does but my system runs fine so I assume its fine not to use the 4k stack size. Myabe some one else would care to explain what this does.

For the other error your getting about the invalide type argument... I found this thread looking for a fix to it myself. No luck as of yet.
