Modem Question


i have a compaq 2500 notebook with a conexant acLink modem running fadora core 2 kernal 2.6.5-1.358, and when i go to configure an internet connection it starts probing and says it doesnt find a modem im assuming i need a different driver but am having the HARDEST time finding one if anyone has any knowledge they can share with me id appreciate it allot, btw im kinda new to linux so go easy

if u need any other info just ask

Try linuxant they had a driver for my conexant moden.

ya i tried the linuxant driver no luck.... i installed it with no dependancy errors but again when i go to configure and probe for a modem it says there is no modem detected, my freind told me to try the ppp dialer because sometimes it wont recognize it but it will still work.. ppp dialer? i didnt see anything like that.. PLZ PEOPLE I NEED UR HELP!!! i dont want to have to go back to windows... but if i dont get this i might just have to..

Sorry didn't spot this before, the conexant modems dont work under 2.6 kernels. I've spent days trying, I gave up and went back to a 2.4 kernel.

hmm, thats what i was afraid of... can u explain to me how to back track on the kernel im not familair with it? thanks again for all ur help
