With this I can finally use my transformer book as a tablet.

...Even if it doesn't strictly behave like an android.

Asus: T300CHI: Disk partitioning.

With only 128GB of storage partitioning the disk correctly could make or break an install of any operating system. Here are my thoughts after running Debian on this device for a long while.

Firstly there is a lot going on with the default partitioning scheme. It's gpt, using uefi to boot phun intended.

Code:
Disk /dev/sda: 246162672 sectors, 117.4 GiB
Logical sector size: 512 bytes
Partition table holds up to 128 entries
First usable sector is 34, last usable sector is 246162638
Partitions will be aligned on 2048-sector boundaries
Total free space is 3597 sectors (1.8 MiB)

Number Start (sector) End (sector) Size Code Name
   1 2048 206847 100.0 MiB EF00 EFI system partition
   2 206848 468991 128.0 MiB 0C01 Microsoft reserved ...
   3 468992 27246239 12.8 GiB 0700 Basic data partition
   4 214683648 246161407 15.0 GiB 2700 Basic data partition
   5 27246592 27248639 1024.0 KiB EF02
   6 27248640 44826623 8.4 GiB 8300
   7 44826624 50685951 2.8 GiB 8300
   8 50685952 67049471 7.8 GiB 8200
   9 67049472 67829759 381.0 MiB 8300
  10 67829760 214683647 70.0 GiB 8300
...

I'm almost to the end of completing a triple boot of Windows 10, Ubuntu Studio Wily Werewolf 15.10 64bit, and Android Lollipop x86 5.1 rc1 64bit. Here's what I've done so far with the help of a few different forums and blog posts.

1. Upgraded the preinstalled Windows 8 to Windows 10.
2. Reduced the size of the windows partition from within windows to give me enough unallocated space for ubuntu.
3. Set aside a temporarily formatted portion for Android.
4. Disabled windows secure boot and smart boot as they are said to interfere with multi-boot attempts.
5. Bought a usb hub and a usb keyboard so I could get through the part of the ubuntu setup where you need to type stuff. This also came in handy later for the android install which didn't recognise the touchscreen.
6. I first attempted the ubuntu studio install with a usb drive containing 14.04 which failed at the Grub creation stage near the end, however I have since read that only 14.10 and up are compatible with UEFI. For this I needed to go with the limited support version of Ubuntu Studio, which is presently 15.10. This install went off without a hitch.
7. Paired the wireless keyboard. This glitches a little sometimes and needs to be re-pared, as I have also found in windows, so I assume it's at least partly a hardware issue.
8. Attempted the copying from within ubuntu method of installing android, couldn't get it to work.
9. Installed android from a boot flash drive, selecting no for both the grub options, and reformatting my previously set aside drive as ext4 because it's the only format compatable with UEFI, thus enabling me to install apps, which was impossible with the ext3 format. Android worked seamlessly when I ran it from the end of the install.
10. I'm still attempting to create a grub entry to enable me to get back into Android from boot.

Sorry for bumping this thread after such a long time but I couldn't find another thread about the T300 Chi. I've tried a recent KDE Neon build based on Ubuntu 16.10. All hardware is detected and works but unfortunately both the touch screen and the trackpad are accessed as a mouse. As a result multi touch gestures such as two finger scrolling and zooming don't work. I wouldn't really mind to lose touchscreen functionality but I scroll a lot with two fingers on the trackpad so that really is a deal breaker for me. Now I really want to get rid of Windows and move over to Linux. Is there still a way that we can get this hardware going under Ubuntu 16.10?

Of course I tried the PPA posted here but I don't think the packages work anymore in more recent Ubuntu versions.

Most likely u are running Xorg, but u may be running Wayland/Xwayland? I had problems with the touchscreen not working at all in Xwayland, back in 2015.

The Synaptics device is the touchscreen only, so no drivers for advanced touch events for the bluetooth trackpad.

Thanks for posting Cheako! That's quite a disappointment. Looks like I'd have to buy a new device then. Do you know if this problem exists with all or most tablets with a bluetooth keyboard+touchpad or is it Asus specifically?

I think it's a keyboard and mouse on a single device problem, but I know next to nothing about synaptics.
