Keep getting boot error messages

I installed mx linux 21.3 32-bit on an older dell latitude e6430s. I keep getting either invalid partition table or F1 to continue or F2 to enter setup? This only happens when I unplug and plug the laptop back in again. The bios shows both legacy and uefi boot options and secure boot. How would I fix this?

I believe this laptop has a dedicated BIOS battery which maybe dead and reverts back to UEFI mode instead of legacy mode when unplugged which is required by the 32 bit version. The laptop is capable of a 64 bit operating system and would install the x64 version unless there is some underlying reason for not doing so.
