Debian touchpad pointer location and no right click
I normally keep my help requests to one issue and this may actually be 2 issues, but they're both related to the touchpad, so I don't know if they're related.
First, I can't right-click with the touchpad.
Second, the touchpad pointer seems a bit "off". It took me a while to figure out what the problem actually is. When I first installed Debian, when I placed the pointer on a clickable item, sometimes clicking would work, sometimes not. I eventually discovered that I had to have the pointer over the top-right corner of the clickable item for the click to work.
System: I installed Debian bookworm/sid on a vaio fe 15. During installation I de-selected the desktop environment option and any of the desktops that were pre-selected. I selected ssh tools and the standard utilities options. I installed Awesome Window Manager.
Note: I ran a live USB of Linux Mint and though I was not able to right click, I did NOT have the problem with the pointer position/clicking.
UPDATE: I installed xinput and with that I changed the "tapping" option from disabled (0) to enabled (1). This gives me the capability to do the same thing as a right-click, by two-finger tapping, but it doesn't actually enable the capability to right-click. Also, now if I place the cursor over an item, pretty much anywhere, and I single-tap the touchpad, it performs the appropriate function. However, the cursor position problem of using the left touchpad button still persists.
