Changing screen setttings

I just finished installing RedHat 9 on an IBM Thinkpad R51. Just about everything worked out of the box. The main problem I am having is the screen settings, I can't change it from 800x600. It won't detect my screen. It has found the video card (Radeon Mobile 7500). I have tried changing it manually in the etc/X11/ directory ( I forgot the filename). Where do I go from here?

Make sure you know what is the specs of your LCD panel or the maximum resolution your panel can support. Let's say your monitor can support up to 1400x1050 resolution, change your monitor type and look for a generic IBM 1400x1050 LCD panel. I think that should do the trick.
