my old 2012 MacBook Pro had, for several years, and older Linux installed (maybe Mint 18.X).
everything was working out of the box, sleep/suspend included.
I have recently installed Linux Mint 19.3, and now the laptop
cannot enter suspend mode.
Code:
user@macbook:~$ inxi -F
System: Host: macbook Kernel: 5.3.0-46-generic x86_64 bits: 64 Console: tty 1 Distro: Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia
Machine: Type: Laptop System: Apple product: MacBookPro6,2 v: 1.0 serial: <root required>
Mobo: Apple model: Mac-F22586C8 v: MacBookPro6,2 serial: <root required> UEFI: Apple
v: MBP61.88Z.005A.B00.1708072217 date: 08/07/17
if I try to enter suspend, either by closing the laptop lid or, to see what happens, by typing "systemctl suspend" or "sudo pm-suspend", the laptop blanks the screen but does not spin down and the keyboard backlight stays on. waiting won't help.
so, to reiterate, my problem is ENTERING the sleep mode, not coming out of it (although that might be an issue in the future).
with the previous Mint version, everything was working as expected.
any suggestions?
Code:
$ cat /sys/power/mem_sleep
s2idle [deep]
