can't start X

I just installed Slackware 9.1 on a Dell Inspiron 9100 and can't get the x-server to fire up. I get this error...

(EE) VGA(0) : Virtual height (0) is too small for the hardware (min 1)
(EE) Screens(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.

Fatal server error :
no screens found

The resolution that I need to set it to is "1280x800". What exactly do I need to do to the XF86Config file?

Thanks!

Vindane,

I have slack-current running on my I9100 and i had quite a bit o trouble at first due to the ATI radeon card.. you will first have to choose standard vesa just to get X started and then install the fglrx ati drivers -- as outlined on the first page in shilo's guide --> http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=174447

that should get you setup fine. its what worked for me on my install.

Thank you very much for the tip! I got it working. Now I can concentrate on the rest of the system now that I can see.
