xf86 mouse problems

I just installed arch linux and now i'm trying to do my xf86config. I can go through it fine (setting up my monitor and whatever) however when i do startx i get the error:

Xf86OpenSerial: cannot open device /dev/mouse
no such file or directory

My mouse is a ps2 scroll mouse (yes i set it up like that in xf86config). I even did a cd /dev and listed the directories. There was no listing for /dev/mouse or even /dev/input/mouse. mouseconfig doesn't work for me.

What file would i find the mount point for my mouse in??
