mounting an external usb 2.5" hd.

My 2.5" external hd is listed under /mnt/TW*.
However, when I try to mount it I get the error:
Unable to enter file:///mnt/TW_P88_DB. You do not have access rights to this location.

I tried 'chown don:root /mnt/TW*' but that didn't work.

How do I solve this?

Hi d1l2w3, if this is the case.

Are you sure it's not already mounted or am I misunderstanding or misreading something?
Good luck. ;-)

I don't know what you are doing but I'll give it a shot.
How are you trying to mount it? As root? Do you have access permissions?

If you want to mount it manually then plug the drive in and issue
Code:
dmesg | tail
To find where the drive is. Should be something like sd0 or sd1 etc.
Then mount it by file system somewhere under /home/<user> so that user has access to it. An example would be something like
Code:
#mount -t vfat /dev/sd0 /home/<user>/mounting_point
This looks like a permissions problem. You trying to mount as root?

Fogive my stupidity.
I am able to mount the one usb 2.5"hd as root.
I was trying as usr.

The second usb 2.5"hd (100gb) gives the following.

[don@Linux ~]$ dmesg | tail
scsi7 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
usb-storage: device found at 8
usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning
usb 5-6: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 8

usb 5-6: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 8
7:0:0:0: scsi: Device offlined - not ready after error recovery
usb-storage: device scan complete

It never shows up under /mnt

Don't know what the devices problem is or if it's a driver prob, but found this.
