How to install a Samsung ML-2010 printer in Linux Mint 16 " petra" Cinnamon 32-bit?

Hi, could anybody tell me or give me a hint where I could find that information: how can I install my Samsung ML-2010 (a Mono Laser Printer) in Linux Mint 16 "petra" (Cinnamon 32-bit version)?

One of many...

There are many other post on the Internet, but this is the latest I found.

Ubuntu seems to configure this printer automatically. perhaps given the right repositories and available packages.

I'm sorry, I don't understand any of this:

- Get .ppd file from: http://www.openprinting.org/printer/...amsung-ML-2010. (take gdi ppd. Search for "directly download PPD" at the bottom.)
- pacman -S cups foomatic-filters ghostscript
- Configure Cups and direct your browser to http://localhost:631 (Administration) -> (Printers/Add Printer) As driver, chose the downloaded ppd file from openprinting.org and do not forget to set default page size to A4.

Try...

Did you try to see if Mint finds this printer and loads the driver automatically if you have Mint search for and configure a printer? You may need to enable one or more repositories before you can install and configure a printer.

I'm sorry, this is my second day with Mint. I don't even know how I let Mint search for my printer, let alone the driver. Sorry.

As a GUI(Graphic User Interface)...

Otherwise, an internet search will give you more links to information about Mint and linux. The best method to learn linux is by practice, and to start by looking up every term you don't understand.

If you are very unfamiliar with Mint 16 Cinnamon, you could boot it as a live DVD and start looking around, opening and using things and playing with it until something breaks. There are help forums and tutorials, but they assume you know a little already.

Here's a push out into the depths of linux.

Thanks! Luckily I still - also - have Windows XP running on my desktop computer, so there's really no hurry. Still studying... ciao.
