Can't communicate with wlan Cardbus card, chipset AT76C502A

Sigh. I have a Cardbus card from Infosmart that I can't get to run. On the front it says "Wireless IEE802.11b PC Card" and on the back "FCC ID: IIO-0236WLPC". Doing a google search on the latter, I found a site
where it is stated that the card is based on an Atmel AT76C502A chipset.
I'm running Gentoo Linux on an IBM Thinkpad T23. In my /usr/src/linux/.config I have
Code:
#
# Wireless 802.11b ISA/PCI cards support
#
# CONFIG_AIRO is not set
# CONFIG_HERMES is not set
CONFIG_ATMEL=y
# CONFIG_PCI_ATMEL is not set

#
# Wireless 802.11b Pcmcia/Cardbus cards support
#
# CONFIG_AIRO_CS is not set
CONFIG_PCMCIA_ATMEL=y
# CONFIG_PCMCIA_WL3501 is not set
CONFIG_NET_WIRELESS=y
The lights on the card never light up, so I guess it really isn't in contact with linux.
cardctl gives the following:
Code:
T23 root # cardctl status
Socket 0:
  3.3V CardBus card
  function 0: [ready]
Socket 1:
  no card
T23 root # cardctl ident
Socket 0:
  no product info available
Socket 1:
  no product info available
T23 root #
However, I have tried booting Knoppix and running Knoppix I am able to get some info from cardctl ident (will post info below after a reboot). I guess getting Gentoo to spit out the same info when cardctl ident is run would be the first step on my way to getting the card to work. How do I see what driver, hotplug-setup and so on Knoppix uses?

It seems that your Gentoo wasn't able to recognize there info from your wireless card. however your knoppix was able to .
what i say is you could either install knoppix or upgrade your Gentoo kernel.
then you could find the driver for wireless card which seems to be "wlan".
you need to do some research on that.
then you need add 3 line to /etc/pcmcia/config file. it might be different since i only use old redhat linux 9.0.
but what you need to add was something like this

card "Wireless IEE802.11b PC Card"
manfid 0x1814, 0x0101
bind "driver"

i will tell you the right driver after i done some research on your wireless card.

I think I found the correct driver, the module is called rt2400.ko. I will try out this and your additions to /etc/pcmcia/config now. Thanks.

I added

Code:
device "rt2460"
  class "network" module "rt2400"

card "Wireless IEE802.11b PC Card"
  manfid 0x1814, 0x0101
  bind "rt2460"
to /etc/pcmcia/config.
I've also added
Code:
iface_ra0="dhcp"
to /etc/conf.d/net

But it still doesn't work. If I try to do 'dhcpcd ra0' it just times out with no activity on the card whatsoever. Is it because the interface ra0 and the actual card/device aren't associated in any way? How do I associate the interface to the device?
