Update Thinkpad BIOS with Linux possible ?

I got a T440p and I installed Debian on it, I want to use it as a desktop, to make things simple there's an useful feature on the Thinkpad BIOS that, once the AC power applied the notebook will turn on automatically without touching the notebook power switch. I tried that feature but didn't work, I believe it was the BIOS problem so I want to update it to try, since I am not running windows I could not use the Thinkvantage to update the BIOS, and I lost the original disc set for the notebook so I can't boot windows. I did restore a windows images but not for this model, and it said it's not genuine, I don't' want to mess with the license key that could result blocking other working windows in my office, I wonder if there's a way I can update the BIOS w/o using windows ?

fwupd might also support that model, which would allow you to update it from teh running system without having to create a bootable USB.
