So a slightly more Slackware based distribution in the spirit of DSL, TinyCore Linux, Puppy Linux, and Knoppix (and all of the other distributions with a live mode or version) with many of the same advantages and disadvantages. Interesting.
You mentioned that Porteus uses Clear Linux optimisations. What sort of difference do these optimisations make? Do they limit compatibility in any way?
@rkelsen, to be honest I haven't tried any specific benchmark using normal flags vs Clear Linux flags. I'm assuming it makes the whole thing faster as many Phoronix benchmark have been showing throughout the years: https://www.phoronix.com/search/Clear%20Linux
@boughtonp, I'm on long holiday at the moment, but being a developer in this case has some benefits: I have a holistic understanding. I tried my best to show not just its qualities but also its flaws. But in the end it's our subjective opinion anyway, right?
