Is 2.4.18 RAID-aware?

Is kernel v. 2.4.18 include RAID aware? I mean, is RAID-supprt compiled into the kernel, not loaded as a module? The reason I ask is that I want to beet from a RAID-array and one cannot boot from an array if the kernel isn't RAID-aware.

Regards

Depends on your kernel. Raid is an option you can compile in the kernel or not. What is in the kernel depends on the place or distro you get it from.

Well, I got Suse 7.3 and think it was in there by default - can't check on it because I don't use the original kernel anymore.
Open a console and type su/enter - then you have to type the rootpassword.
After that type cd /usr/src/linux and enter; then menuconfig.
That takes you to the screen where you can configure the kernel.
About the 5th line from the top is about raid and LVM - you can check there.
Don't change anything there if you don't know how to compile a kernel - just check it out. When you leave that screen don't save any changes - just exit.
