Unhappy How to install xfce 4.6 at /opt/xfce?

Hello!

I'm in a Ubuntu Intrepid notebook.

Is it possible to install XFCE 4.6 at the alternative directory /opt/xfce? I'm using the Graphical Installer. The installation seems OK, but... When I try login, I receive an error message. Something like this...

"Possible causes: xfconfd is not in execution (problem in the configuration of the D-bus); the variable $XDG_CONFIG_DIRS is defined incorrectly (it should include "/ opt/xfce/etc"), or xfce-session is installed incorrectly."

I tried to set XDG_CONFIG_DIRS=/etc/xdg:/opt/xfce/etc/xdg. But... It didn't work!

Can anybody help me?

Are you positive you set the path correctly? What is the output if you do:

Code:
echo $XDG_CONFIG_DIRS
The proper way to set it would be to have a line like this in your .bash_profile:

Code:
export XDG_CONFIG_DIRS=$XDG_CONFIG_DIRS:/opt/xfce/etc

Yeah!

The command

Code:
echo $XDG_CONFIG_DIRS
give me this

Code:
:/etc/xdg:~/.config:/opt/xfce/etc
