How to display the size of a folder?

I am really embarrassed posting this msg... I have spent a whole day, trying to display in my console the total size of a folder. Something like the
Code:
dir /s
command in windows.

Which is the right command? Thank you.

try:

Code:
du -sh folder
It will list the size in bytes. If you want it to show Mb, Kb, etc, (human-readable), there is another flag to add.. try running 'man du'.
