How can i merge two ext2 linux partition without loosing any data
hI ,
I had linux 7.2 installed. very soon my harddisk ran out of space (100% full). Now whenever i boot in linux my system does not go in to any other runlevel except linux single user mode (and that too read only - not allowing me to delete or write any file). I have created an ext2 partition through partition magic pro through windows. But it does not allow to merge two linux ext2 partiiton. IS there any tool available in linux so that i can merge existing linux ext2 partition with another newly created ext2 partition without loosing any data from existing partition. Or Please suggest any other solution to my problem.
If your harddisk became full, how did you manage to create another partition? There would be no room for another partition.
If it is only the partition you were using that became full, and you had room to make another partition, then why bother making a new partition? Just increase the size of existing partition.
to answer your question, no you can't merge an ext2 partition.
I would suggest using ghost, or some other image app to create a full partition backup preferably to a CD. once that is done. you can install a new drive, or resize your other partitions so you can delete and recreate your ext2 partition. once that is done, ghost back down your backup, you may have to boot up with a boot disk first and make sure your boot loader is looking for linux under its new partition.
Merge 2 ext2 partitions --is it doable form Windows ?? Yes or No
To put it simple: I need to merge 2 ext2 partitions without losing data and without using live boot. From Windows till now I have not found any software which could do it. So is there any app like that for windows (without losing data, without using any live boot)

You may get an answer, if you open your own thread for your own question. This thread had been closed for *EIGHTEEN YEARS* before you reopened it. And as written, it makes no sense...you want to use Windows to manipulate Linux EXT2 partitions??? Windows cannot/could not use ANY Linux filesystems, without third-party utilities, and even then they're typically read-only. And EXT2 hasn't been the 'standard' for Linux for many years.
Open your own thread for your own question, ask a clear question, and provide details; asking about Windows software on a Linux forum won't typically get many answers.
