After installing Kali Linux on my computer, the boot manager displays a list of available OS's in my computer and prompts me to choose an OS.
By default, Kali Linux is high-lighted as the first option on the list, and Windows is 3rd option on list.
I would like to have Windows as the first option on the list, so that I do not have to always scroll down to access Windows (I only have 5 seconds to do so before it automatically boots the first option, i.e Kali Linux).
Is it possible to have Windows as first option in boot-manager?
btw I tried include an image but not sure if it went thru (it was asking for URL of the image instead of path directory).
Obviously it can be solved. You can also change that 5 secs. And also you can change the default. But first we need to know which bootloader is it.
But first: https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...rs-4175633618/
If it is Grub on Kali, go to the /etc/default/grub file and change the line: GRUB_DEFAULT=0 inserting a 2 in place of the 0 if windows is the third entry. Grub counts from zero. You need to run grub-mkconfig as root user after making the change and saving it.
Unless the “boot manager” that you speak of has some options of its own – carefully read any docs – you are first going to need to know which underlying boot-system is being used (probably Grub), and then make configuration changes directly to it. Very carefully. Both the default choice and the delay can be configured.
Grub is a “smart” loader which can be customized by changing ordinary files. (As root.) LILO, not so much.

The answers to my question are simply hilarious. You make it seem like I'm asking how to dismantle a nuclear bomb LMAO.
After I posted this thread I simply googled the question and found tool Grub-Customizer to edit GRUB without need to use terminal (and I was also able to find the terminal commands to do so if I want to).
You just assume that anyone joining this forum is a child who just stumbled across a hacking tool? lol

Simply editing the file I suggested would have done the job and is extremely simple. In the future, I would also suggest you do an online search before posting. That is expected. Your comment about the complexity of the suggestions you got is hilarious in the extreme. Replacing one character in a text file is not quite the same as 'dismantling a nuclear bomb'.
