Can't Get 1280x1024 Resolution

I figured this had something to do with the nVidia drivers or X, so I didn't post in a specific Distro.

I should be able to get 1280x1024 resolution. My monitor and graphics card support it. In the list of resolutions I can only get up to 1024 (or whatever). How could I "unlock" 1280?

Add it by hand to your Xorg.conf file. Or since it looks like you have Ubuntu, you could try sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg and when it shows you all the resolutions and stuff, make sure 1280x1024 is selected.
