ALSA not working with system (GUI) sounds.

I'll be brief:

alsa is working fine with gmplayer and xmms and gaim and all little programs that make noise. however, there arent any gui/system sounds anymore (like when you minimize/maximize a window).

kernel 2.4.20-20.9
ALSA 0.9.8

I DL'ed and installed the alsa-oss package too and re modprobed all the appropriated modules, still no luck.

try to use XMMS with the OSS output plugin to see if your oss emulation is working correctly, and post what Desktop Environment are u using

gnome 2, and yes, at current, i am using the OSS output plugin and it is working just fine in XMMS and gmplayer
