sort oder suse 9.1


Currently in suse 9.1 if you do a ls on a directory it lists bread before Corn, for example. Is there a way to get it to act like it used to where it would list the capitols first. Also if you do ls -la it lists the . files in with the others, as if the . wasn't there, I'd like to have all the . files at the top of the list.
