RedHat 7.1 Quotas Problem!
Hello,
i tried to set up quotas at red hat 7.1!
i followed the How-To (at linuxdocs.org)
as i did the same thing for RH 6.2
i made the quota.user and the quota.group at the root partition
of the partition i set quotas! (the / )
i went into /etc/fstab and i put next to the default, grpquota, usrquota
as the How-To says...
i did the reboot in order to mount the root partition with quota.
first i had chechked that the quotacheck and quotaon was in the rc.sysinit!
everything was ok ... so i rebooted!
the system rebooted ok ... at the screen it showed ok when checking for quotas.
i logged in root ....
and i did edquota -g mail
it showed me a message at the screen ... to convert quotas!
i read the man pages ... and i converted quotas
(convertquota -gu /).
i hit again edquota -g mail ... and it gave me the vi to set the quotas!
i made same entrys ... hard and soft etc
i saved the file and back to the system!
i gave quotaon /
and next quota -g mail
and it gave me back a message saying that /dev/hda1(/):Quotas Disabled!
and the quotas didn't work!
i searched your site ... i read man pages and How-To ...i asked lists..
searched the internet
for 2 days but i found nothing!
could you help me ???
could you have any idea why is this happening ???
give me a hint... :)
thank you... :)
friendly,
